    Lachung Monastery

    Located on the banks of Lachung river, this monastery is a Buddhist place of worship and follows Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism. Also called Samten Choeling Monastery, the monastery was established in year 1850. In 1930 a statue of Buddha, a statue of a Guru Padmasambhava, a statue of Chenrezig made of Copper alongside Kangyur and Tengyur Texts were brought from Tibet as essential religious fortune for this monastery. Redesigned and renovated in 1983, the two-storey monastery is one of the most popular in Sikkim and encompassed by apple plantations and sparkling view of whole of Lachung valley.

    Chungthang Valley

    Situated on the juncture of Lachen and Lachung streams, Chungthang is a verifiable town. The locals here believe that Guru Padmasambhaba and Guru Nanak have likewise visited this place. The town is an amazing base camp for places like Lachung, Yumthang, Yumesamdong, Katao, Lachen, Thangu, Gurudongmar and Tso-Lamu Lake (Tibet Border). Chungthang has a rich biodiversity and is to be sure an endowment of nature to North Sikkim.

    Seven Sisters Waterfalls

    Located 32km from Gangtok on the North Sikkim Highway, this is a serene waterfall en route to Lachung. There are different vantage points here to savour the pristine beauty and nature’s wonder.  The Seven Sisters name is given to this waterfall as it supposedly falls in seven stages.
